Why We’re Opening Our Doors for the First Time
A Fundraising Appeal from Pravasi Setu Foundation
For the past two years, Pravasi Setu Foundation has worked quietly but consistently to advance research, dialogue, and public understanding on migration and diaspora.
Founded in 2022 and registered as a Section 8, non-profit organisation, Pravasi Setu Foundation operates at the intersection of migration, diaspora, and development—connecting people, policy, and institutions through rigorous research and public engagement.
Until now, every initiative of the Foundation has been sustained entirely through self-financing by its core team.
Today, as we enter 2026–2027, we are opening our doors for the first time—inviting members, donors, and partners to help us sustain and scale this work.
Our Journey So Far
Despite limited resources, Pravasi Setu Foundation has:
- Organised international conferences and global webinars
- Published independent research and policy reports
- Mentored and trained 40+ young scholars and early-career professionals
- Launched Pravasi Pulse, a diaspora-focused magazine
- Produced India Unbordered, a bilingual podcast series
- Created the first-ever global maps of the Indian diaspora
- Built the foundation for an open-access digital diaspora repository
All of this was made possible through commitment, credibility, and belief in the importance of migration studies as a public good.
Why We Need Your Support Now
Migration is one of the most defining forces of our time—yet research, policy, and public discourse often remain fragmented, inaccessible, or detached from lived realities.
Your support enables us to:
- Produce independent, evidence-based research
- Train the next generation of migration scholars and practitioners
- Build open-access digital public goods
- Foster informed public dialogue on migration and diaspora
- Bridge the gap between research, policy, and lived migrant experiences
We are not just documenting migration journeys.
We are building the bridges they never had.
